🌿 DIY Essential Oil Bug Spray for Summer AdventuresĀ šŸ¦Ÿā˜€ļø

Living in the Arizona desert has taught me to appreciate every morning spent in the garden before the temperatures climb! šŸŒµšŸ’š But with monsoon season approaching, the mosquitoes, flies, and other pesky bugs start showing up too.

One of my favorite natural options is making my own essential oil bug spray. It’s simple to put together, smells amazing, and is easy to toss in your gardening bag or hiking pack.

🌿 DIY Bug & Tick Spray

✨ 15 drops Lavender

✨ 15 drops Cedarwood

✨ 15 drops Citronella

✨ 5 drops Palo Santo

✨ 5 drops Peppermint

✨ 2 oz Distilled Water

✨ 2 oz Witch Hazel

āž”ļø Add everything to a spray bottle, shake well before each use, and spray on clothing or gear before heading outside.

āš ļø A quick note:Ā Essential oils can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in some people, so do a small patch test first. Be especially careful around pets—some essential oils can be harmful to dogs and cats. I also avoid spraying directly on my face or around my eyes.

And while we’re talking about being outdoors…

Let’s enjoy the holiday, stay safe, and do our part to help keep our beautiful desert from becoming the next wildfire. ā¤ļøšŸŒµ

Have you ever made your own bug spray? I’d love to hear what ingredients you swear by!
